Riverside Circus at the Wharf. Acrobats, jugglers, dancers, and mimes will perform along the river throughout the weekend at the Wharf’s Riverside Circus. While you enjoy live music and performances, stop by Garcia’s for oysters, ceviche, and claws or a food truck such as King of Racks BBQ, La Santa Taqueria, or Mojo Donuts. Giralda Under the Stars on Giralda Avenue. If a plethora of shopping and dining options aren’t enough to lure you to Coral Gables’ Giralda Avenue, maybe some tunes and a street-festival vibe will do the trick. Giralda Under the Stars will return this Friday with live music, entertainment, and local eats. Participating restaurants include Pasión del Cielo, PokeBao, the Local, Threefold Café, and Divino Ceviche. The event is held every first Friday of the month and is now anchored by the recently transformed and expansive Giralda Plaza. 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, January 4, on Giralda Avenue in Coral Gables; shopcoralgables.com. Root & Bone Launches Brunch. Just in time for the new year, Top Chef alums Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth recently opened a location of their popular Southern restaurant, Root & Bone, in South Miami. This Saturday, the restaurant will launch brunch service, complete with fried chicken-and-waffle sandwiches, sticky pork-belly bacon bites, biscuits, and deviled eggs. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, 5958 S. Farm Family-Style Sunday-Night Dinner at Swank Farms. Start the new year with this family-style event, which will unite several South Florida chefs, bartenders, and breweries for an indulgent Sunday-night dinner. Taking place on Swank’s 20-acre farm, the meal will incorporate brews, wine, and fresh-picked Swank Farms vegetables. Participating chefs include Boulud Sud’s Clark Bowen and Mignonette’s Danny Serfer and Devin Braddock, along with El Camino mixologist Jessica Bell and the folks at Barrel of Monks Brewing. Be sure to catch a farm tour led by owners Darrin and Jodi Swank, or wander the fields solo before sitting down for dinner inside the barn.
